What does it mean to follow Jesus?

Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
— Matthew 4 v 19

Did you know Jesus’ goal for you is to be completely transformed from the inside out?

What does this mean for us as followers of Jesus? We are overwhelmed by self-help methods during a time of despair and avoidance. Social media distracts us from building meaningful relationships. Many Christians have lost hope in transformation, thinking faith alone will lead to change without changing how we live. The Gospel has become just an intellectual idea. Additionally, faith has become too private, making local church communities feel unnecessary. We have divided physical and spiritual lives, resulting in a decline of spiritual practices in Western Christianity.

The teachings of Jesus haven't changed, and His promise of transformation is still available to us. As believers, we should focus on spiritual practices as an essential part of the gospel. Regular daily practice of spiritual growth is needed to change and refresh our minds.

Is it possible to live a life like Jesus in our modern day?

Yes, the answer is clear! It comes from being with Jesus, becoming like Him, and following His example. By engaging in spiritual practices, building community with others, and forming a strong relationship with the Holy Spirit, we can experience the full life that Jesus promised. Through Him, we connect with God and can reach the spiritual realm while living on earth. Grace is more than just favour; it is Jesus’ presence that empowers us to live as God's children. Hebrews 12:14 tells us to seek holiness, which in ancient Hebrew culture meant fully committing to God and living differently for Him. Rearranging our lives around the spiritual practices of Jesus is essential to keeping our bond with God. Over time, this has become our new way of life. As we grow closer to Jesus, He changes us into who we are meant to be, allowing us to invite others on this journey.

Starting your spiritual and emotional journey can feel overwhelming if you're unsure where to start.
