“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”
Jesus is the greatest servant, and as His followers, we aim to emulate Him. Serving one another is essential to our faith, whether through parking cars, caring for babies, praying, teaching children, or providing meals for those in need. By serving each other, we serve God. We have unique talents that contribute to our family.

TIISETSO COMMUNITY PROJECTS
Tiitseto Community Projects is a nonprofit that aims to improve the Thabo Mbeki Informal Settlement and nearby areas. The name "Tiisetso," meaning perseverance, reflects the group's commitment to supporting the community.
The Skills Development Centre is the main way to support the community. It serves as a center for coaching, mentoring, training, and job experiences, along with programs for skill-building, personal growth, and emergency help.
LifeHouse Church supports Tiisetso Community Projects in the Thabo Mbeki Community. We build relationships and work with community leaders to share the gospel and promote positive social change.
Different Community Projects
-
Every Tuesday evening, a team helps school kids with their homework. No experience needed, just kindness.
Volunteers from Fourways run an afterschool program from 5-6 pm, mainly focusing on math and science. This program has significantly increased students' passing rates, with about 30 kids getting help.
-
Residents of Thabo who want to farm are trained to run food tunnels at the Tiisetso Skills Centre. They sell vegetables and worm tea to locals, earning money. Right now, three farmers take care of seven food tunnels that provide food for around 60 people.
-
Since 2019, Tiisetso has hosted about four soccer and netball tournaments each year. With help from local businesses providing equipment, a soccer and netball field was built. The tournaments have been successful and are important events in the village, involving around 250 young people.
-
About 30 vulnerable children receive a nutritious bowl of food three times a week. Fresh vegetables from the food tunnel, along with generous donations of maize and rice, are carefully prepared and combined to create wholesome meals that serve as essential nourishment for these children.
-
Tiisetso has worked with sponsors and builders to improve schools and set up water pipes. Preschool graduation events are important for kids and parents, and Tiisetso has teamed up with sponsors to improve these ceremonies. About 10 teachers and 60 children benefited.

This program assists approximately 80 frail and elderly with basic domestic needs such as blanket washing, house cleaning, food provision, counselling, and medical care.
-
The Skills Centre is now a business incubator where new businesses open frequently. Examples include a tech cleaning service, gardening, vegetable sales, bead making, a Kota restaurant, sewing, chicken egg sales, and earthworm tea sales.
Approximately 20 work opportunities have been created so far.

Many women and young girls face trauma throughout their lives, including experiences such as rape and abuse. The Centre offers valuable weekly counselling services that provide essential emotional support and guidance during these challenging and often painful times.
